Starting to sew as a beginner was the hardest thing ever. You'll want to give up when things get really hard.
In life, things will get hard. But doesn't mean you should stop giving up.
Doing your favourite hobbies that might turn into a career if you want it to can be hard but you have to keep trying if you want to succeed.
Soooo! For the beginner sewers out there. Making a skirt is really easy. Especially the circle skirt.
I have the steps of how to make the best and you're first skirt.
You will need: A zipper or an elastic, pins, thread and fabric scissors or a rotary cutter, measurement tape, and a template for your measurements.
First, cut out your fabric. I had a 44 by 47 inches of fabric. But I suggest 50 by 50 inches
Fold once so is kinda looks like a hotdog.
Fold it again so it is has 4 layers of fabric. (Not Cutting)
Measure your waist, and divide it by 6.28.
Place your template on the fabric.
Cut it out and leave some seam allowance.
Sew around the skirt. (Sew the skirt on the wrong side of the fabric.)
If your fabric is stretchy, use the regular presser foot, if not, either use a straight stitch foot, or the regular. (I prefer straight stitch foot because it makes the sewing much easier.)
Sew the top of the skirt.
Iron the hem and the waist hem to make a clean look.
Depending on the fabric you used, turn your iron settings to that specific fabric.
Pin on your zipper if that's the type of skirt you're making. Make sure to use a zipper foot. It is so much easier. When you are finished. Iron the zipper.
Vola! A made skirt. ready to take the runway.
